Our Mission-prepare for college APPLICATIONS ahead of time

Every year there are more than 1.3 Million students in Canada attending post-secondary education at University and College (Stats Can, 2018b). Of these students, only 0.005% are Indigenous peoples, although 4.3% of the Canadian population is Indigenous (Stats Can, 2018a). Problematically, the application process can act a barrier for Indigenous students in accessing higher education services (e.g., Restoule et al., 2013). Indigirecruit is a grassroots, Indigenous-led initiative to help Indigenous students navigate the complexity of the application process, including funding and written components. In Canada alone, there is an estimate of approximately 40,000 Indigenous community members who can use our services to help them create an application online and apply to the school of their choice. These include the many Indigenous high school students who will graduate in the next three years or have graduated within the past five years.  Our services are offered free of charge and focused on these new Indigenous graduates.

What We've ACHIEVED

• IndigIrecruit has been successful in being selected for the McGill Dobson Cup 2020, in which it became semi-finalist during the Winter of 2020. It is currently competing for the finals.

• The executive team is partaking into the McGill X-1 Accelerator.
